I felt the need to share my story with people. Take it for what it is, but I hope people can use this for motivation specifically when it comes to working out.

I was an average athlete in high school. I played football for a few years and ran track throughout high school. So you can say I somehow managed to keep my body healthy throughout the year. My first year in college took a bad turn; I gained 50 lbs. within 6 months of graduating high school, and entering college. I can tell you that I let myself go, and I really had no excuse. I knew I had to do something, and I also knew it would require a lot of work which I simply had no motivation for. So my first year of college flew by with me gaining all this weight. I hated it but all I did was hate myself for it. I couldn’t stay motivated to try and do something about it, so I simply accepted it. My first semester of sophomore year also came and went, and I gained another 20 lbs. So at this point, I was at 230 lbs.

At this rate, I knew something had to change, so the first day back from winter vacation my sophomore year, I hit the gym three days a week. I managed to get in about 12 minutes of cardio those 3 days because that was all I could manage. 12 minutes was nothing compared to my track coach’s workouts from high school, but I figured it was a start and I would have to work my way up. I began eating more salads. I gave up candy and even switched out my juices and sodas for water. I knew that changing what I did to myself would take a while.

About a month into my simple exercise and dieting, I came across an article on bodybuilding.com. It was about a Bollywood actor named Hrithik Roshan who got back into shape after a slipped disc injury. With the help of Kris Gethin, Roshan lost about 22 lbs and went from his 36-inch waist down to a 30-inch waist. Growing up, I used to watch a lot of Hrithik Roshan movies and now I had the same workout he did to become fit. I did a bit more research on exactly what he did and I came across Kris Gethin’s 12-week Transformation program.  Without an ounce of doubt, I figured I’d start first thing in the morning the next day.

I followed every instruction Kris Gethin gave in his videos to the best of my ability. Living on a college campus, I had to make sure that nothing would prevent me from gaining success. I cooked differently, ate differently, and worked out differently. Even when I went out to eat with my friends, I did not hesitate to eat something healthy. I even got my family to start changing some of the foods they ate. Slowly, my physical transformation became a mental transformation. After months of feeling miserable at myself, I finally felt amazing. I would wake up in the morning looking forward to going to the gym. I made sure I planned my day in such a way that my gym time would not be cut short. I refused to allow myself to make excuses to not go to the gym.  My roommate was of great assistance as well. He came to the gym with me most of the time and got me started on the supplements by sharing his protein powders with me.

Over time, I began to embrace the transformation. I shaved my beard which I mainly used to cover up my double chin within week 8 of the program. My old clothes began to fit again. I finally started wearing my old jeans which currently fit loose on my waist. People began to notice that something was changing quickly. I hadn’t felt so great in such a long time. My friends who also worked out wanted to know what I did that gave me such insane results. My friends didn’t think that the DTP workouts were humanly possible, but I did them with no questions asked. DTP workouts definitely got some attention in the gym. My friends would look at me funny when they saw the amount of reps I did per set.

At the completion of the program, I lost 30 lbs. putting me at 200 lbs. My body finally has definition. Instead of me being the one asking questions about working out, people now ask me questions in and out of the gym. However, I’m not done yet. I still have a goal in mind that I haven’t reached. I’m going to start the 12 week Transformation program again now that I’m on summer vacation. So I have all the time in the world to focus on it with undivided attention. I seriously can’t wait till I see the results of Round 2. I just want to thank all my friends and family who were always supporting me throughout the entire thing. I also want to thank Kris Gethin for helping me change my life. I couldn’t have done it without your help through all those videos. And last but not least, I’d also like to thank Hrithik Roshan, for inspiring me to just simply start my own fitness journey. If it wasn’t for your inspiring story, I honestly don’t know what else would have inspired me to change my ways.

I encourage all of you who are still waiting for the right push to get healthy again, to just simply start. You have the ability to motivate yourself. And you don’t know the true power of your own body till you make your body do work. So to all of you, just get started, and don’t stop.
